Important
You must print and bring your receipt with you as proof that you have paid for your road test. If you do not have a receipt, you will need to pay again before you can take the road test.
Road test locations
You must make an appointment before you can take the road test. You can choose to have us contact you for an appointment, or you can call us at (902) 424-5851 or 1-800-898-7668 to book a road test appointment at one of our driver examination and testing service locations.

Types of road tests
Class 1
Semi/Tractor Trailer Licence: Semi-trailer and tractor-trailer combinations, and all types of vehicles in classes 2, 3, 4, 5 and 8 (except school buses).
Note: You must have completed a knowledge test and supplied a medical examination report form filled out by a qualified physician to take this road test.
Class 2
Bus Licence: Vehicles having a seating capacity of more than 24 passengers, and all types of vehicles in classes 3, 4, 5 and 8 (except school buses).

Class 3
Heavy Commercial Licence: Any single vehicle over 14,000 kg (30,864 lbs G.V.W.), any combination of vehicles (other than semi-trailer or tractor-trailer combination over 14,000 kg G.V.W.) where the towed vehicle in the combination does not exceed a G.V.W. of 4,500 kg or 10,000 lbs, and all types of vehicles in classes 4, 5 and 8 (except school buses). Note: You must have completed a knowledge test and supplied a medical examination report form filled out by a qualified physician to take this road test.
Class 4
Public Passenger Licence: Buses under 24 passengers (except school buses), taxis, ambulances, commercial vans as defined under the Motor Carrier Act and regulations, and all types of vehicles in classes 5 and 8.
Note: You must have completed a knowledge test and supplied a medical examination report form filled out by a qualified physician to take this road test.
Class 5 and 5N
Operator's Licence: Any single vehicle (including vans with a seating capacity of 10 or more but less than 25) not exceeding 14,000 kg (30,864 lbs) G.V.W, or any combination of vehicles (other than semi-trailer or tractor-trailer combinations) not exceeding a combined G.V.W. of 14,000 kg where the towed vehicles in that combination does not exceed a G.V.W. of 4,500kg (10,000 lbs), and all types of vehicles in class 8.
Class 6
Motorcycle Operators Licence:
Motorcycles and/or motor driven cycles and vehicles in class 8
Motorcycle Endorsement:
Motorcycles and/or motor-driven cycles
School Bus Endorsement:
School buses.
